Sweet, spicy, fruity and with a certain kick is the limited edition of Don Papa "MassKara", which can already be purchased in our online shop. The artificial word originated from the Spanish
Since the 1980s, the so-called "Masskara - Festival of Smiles" has been held in Bacolod in the Philippines every year in October. For several days and nights people enjoy themselves there with street parades, bars and street food and with colorfully illuminated floats and colorfully dressed dancers. Hand-painted feathers, flowers and colorful beads and sequins play a major role and you feel a little like the carnival in Rio. Of course, the alcohol flows, preferably beer also plays a major role in this.

Typical Filipino spices and ingredients are used in Don Papa Masskara, a so-called "spiced rum" , to give it its unique taste. The black gold from the island of Negros, as the molasses was proudly called from there, matured in American oak barrels after distillation. It gets its fruity notes from a pot still infusion with the well-known and popular calamansis .
These are small yellow-orange citrus fruits that are a bit reminiscent of limes and play a major role in Southeast Asian cuisine. Siling Labuyo, a small Filipino chili pepper variety with red fruits, is added as a further flavor component . The local honey adds its sweet notes and the result is a rich and complex spirit that you can buy from the Rum Company.

The Masskara is perfect for rum cocktails , such as a daiquiri or a fruity rum punch.

It has come to signify the emotional “gut feeling” reaction a company can elicit from its customers
